Highland Park 4 Peats with a 57-53 Victory over Millennium Ballers
A change in venue from the Corpus Christi Gymnasium to the South River High
School Gymnasium, which will be the location for the Millennium Ballers
Spring League commencing on March 31st, did not alter Highland Park's
ability to 4 peat on Tuesday night. In remaining the only Champions that
the Millennium Ballers League as ever seen, the squad representing the
borough along the Raritan River took home the coveted inaugural individual
trophies awarded to the victors. The Garvin Brothers and company were
simply too much from beyond the arc and inside the paint for the Millennium
Ballers as they raced out to an early 11-0 lead. The MBallers, despite
foul trouble and limited resources (only six players) fought back valiantly
and even lead at halftime by a 29-27 tally.
But as the horn went off for the second half, Highland Park was able to
demonstrate what makes a Champion as they completed a Winter Season sweep
of the MBallers since they also defeated them on opening night. As
Highland Park makes plans to 5 peat, the MBallers, under Mars Mellish's
leadership, Dave Capers intensity, and Mike Pawlowski's consistency, will
use this 4 week break to prepare for another run at the crown. Looking
forward to seeing everyone back for the Spring Season!
